New Rudder Angle Transmitters
DEIF has released an analogue Rudder Angle Transmitter, RTA 602, and two CANopen transmitters, the RTC 300 & RTC 600, with “no touch” magnetic angle detection technology.
Unlike potentiometers, with no electromechanical parts this technology guarantees optimal accuracy, performance and longer life for the transmitters.
The rudder and azimuth systems are MED approved for easy use and immediate class approval.
Rudder Angle Transmitter, RTA 602
The analogue Rudder Angle Transmitter, RTA 602, converts the position angle of the rudder into an electrical current signal (4…20 mA).
Because it is type approved for marine applications, the RTA 602 can even be used for pitch and azimuth (360°) angle measurement, and the sensor’s robust mechanical design and IP 67 protection makes it ideal for use aboard any ship.
It can be mounted directly next to the rudder and connected using a linkage/lever available as an accessory. DEIF rudder and azimuth systems are MED approved for easy class approval of the installation.
The RTA 602 is also mechanically and electrically compatible with DEIF’s Rudder Angle Transmitter, RT-2, for 4-20 mA, and can drive one or more DEIF rudder indicators either directly (4…20 mA) or via the TDG-210DG Insulation DC/DC amplifier outputting +/-10V DC.
RTC 300 & RTC 600
The RTC 300 & RTC 600 Rudder/Azimuth Angle Transmitters convert the rudder or azimuth thruster’s position angles into digital data values with a 16 bit resolution (+/-180deg. = +/-32767). Values are transmitted on the CANbus using the standard CANopen protocol for encoders, and the RTC 300 & 600s may even be used for pitch angle measurement.
Because the RTC 300 comes with standard 50 mm IP 67 housing fitted with a standard Ø 6 mm axel, it is a simple matter to replace traditional integrated potentiometers in both steering machines and azimuth gear boxes with the new unit.
The RTC 600 boasts a robust mechanical design. Providing IP67 protection and fitted with a strong Ø 19 mm stainless steel shaft, it is ideal for direct connection to the ship’s rudder and is compatible with optional mounting accessories.
Transition from an analogue to a CAN-based indicator system is a simple change, as the RTC 600 is also mechanically compatible with DEIF’s Rudder Angle Transmitter, RT-2, and because DEIF’s CAN transmitters can drive one or more DEIF rudder, azimuth or pitch indicators with CAN bus interface.
