Before I joined DEIF, I had some marine experience from working as an electrical engineer on a cruise ship. After running my own electro service/sales company for a few years, I applied for a position as Sales Engineer with DEIF Norway in 2007. It had been a bit lonely working on my own and I was happy to become part of what turned out to be a great team.
Though I received good training both in Denmark and Norway, I was thrown in head first: I had never done sales meetings before and I remember showing up and being met by as many as 20 technicians in a room where I was expecting a 1-1 meeting. Quite a challenge! But fun!
I now work as Regional Sales Manager. Apart from the land markets, I also focus on the marine segments, ship owners and, increasingly, on offshore. There are big challenges and great possibilities in this segment.
Our dialogue with our sister companies in other countries is on-going. It’s one of our strengths that we have this network because we have a lot of ship owners and decision makers based in Norway who build their ships in China or Brazil, for instance. Consequently, global contact and information flow between the different DEIF companies is becoming increasingly vital.
In Norway, DEIF is a “small” company but we’re known as a global company with high quality products. Because of that, it is usually a pleasure to visit our different customers: they know we offer good products with global service and training.
